“Building Bridges for Christian Children of the Holy Land”
Christian children in the Holy Land are held hostage by violence. They live in the midst of constant stress, under military closures and town seizures. Having never experienced freedom before, they are not familiar with what a safe and normal life is. The political and socio-economic pressures and frustrations in the Palestinian territories are overwhelming. And, in the gloom of many uncertainties and unknowns, kids in the Holy Land long for a change, a glimpse of hope towards a brighter future.
Kids for Hope targets under-privileged Christian children ages 10 – 15 years from various geographic areas in the Holy Land. The program gives Palestinian kids a chance to discover a new and positive outlook on life and the opportunity to realize that they belong to the world and are not alone during these desperate and difficult times. Kids for Hope aims at:
·Building for children bridges of friendship, knowledge, solidarity and support, locally and with churches abroad. ·Strengthening their Christian, historic and cultural identity. ·Enhancing their spirituality. ·Developing their personalities and building theirleadership skills.
Youth for Hope is a continuity to Kids for Hope and targets youth who are in the 15 – 18 age group. The program has a special emphasis on:
·Bible, Faith & Theology. ·Knowledge and Skills. ·Education. ·Networking.
To achieve its goals and objectives, the Children & Youth Program continues to implement the following projects and activities:
·Annual one-week Christian summer camps in Jerusalem and the Galilee. ·Cross-cultural joint programs with church groups in the Western world. ·Educational tours and visits to Holy places and sites. ·Bible studies, readings and reflections. ·Personal development and leadership training. ·Meetings and workshops. ·Essay writing, drawing, singing and learning Christian hymns, hiking, sports and recreation.
